Atrophaneura polydorus is a butterfly from Australasia / Indomalaya ecozone (Australia). The first description was in 1763 by Linnaeus. The wingspan is about 8.0 – 10.0 cm. Atrophaneura polydorus is a member of the family PAPILIONIDAE. The butterfly is black with white and red spots. Hind wings have tails.

Description
The fore wings are black, but in large part whitish with black veins. In back there is a whitish area.
The underside is a copy of upside.
The hind wings are black and have no tails. The margin is ridged. Next to the margin there is a chain of dark-red spots. In the middle of wing there is a big white area, which is divided by black veins.
The underside is a copy of upside, but red spots are brighter than upside.
The body is black, but the opisthosoma is reddish.
