Battus streckerianus
Battus streckerianus is a butterfly from Neotropic ecozone (South America). The first description was in 1884 by Honrath. With a wingspan of 8.0 – 9.0 cm Battus streckerianus is a small member of the family PAPILIONIDAE. The butterfly is black with yellow spots. The hind wings are ridged and have no tails.

Description
The forewings are black.
The underside is black, but there is a yellowish area at the wing leading edge.
The hind wings are black and have no tails. The margin is ridged. At the margin there is a chain of big yellow spots. A yellow band is crossing the wing. The veins are black. There is a little greenish iridescence on hole wing.
The underside is yellowish. In the middle of wing there is a broad black band. This black band contain a chain of white spots. In back there is one little red spot. The veins are black.
The body is black.
Sex differences: The female is brighter than male. Nearby the body there is a whitish area with black veins on all four wings. The yellow spots on hind wings are very pale.
Distribution
Battus streckerianus is a butterfly of the Neotropic ecozone (South America). The distribution extend from Ecuador to Peru.
