The Purple Emperor or the Japanese Emperor are typical members of the APATURINAE. Some of this species have blue structure colors on there wings.  This optical phenominon based on refraction and interference.

The genus SASAKIA was described in 1896 by Moore. It contains at present approx. 3 species. The genus SASAKIA is thereby a tiny-small group under the Nymphalidae.

SASAKIA butterflies are from Asia.
