Iphiclides feisthamelii

Iphiclides feisthamelii is a butterfly from the Palaearctic ecozone (Europe). The first description was in 1832 by Duponchel. The wingspan is about 7 – 9 cm. Iphiclides feisthamelii is a member of the family PAPILIONIDAE. The basic colour of this butterfly is white with black stripes. The hind wings have long tails.

Description

The fore wings are white. Some black stripes dominate the wing. The outer edge is black and contains a yellow stripe.
The underside of Iphiclides feisthamelii is very similar to the upside. But, the outer edge is yellow and contains two black stripe.

The hind wings of Iphiclides feisthamelii are white and they have long tails. The edge is wavy. Two broad, black stripes dominate the wing. The outer edge is black and contains a chain of blue and yellow spots. At the inner edge there is a large black eye with blue core and an orange eye shadow. 
The underside is very similar to the upside. But, the basic colour is yellowish. The black stripe in the middle of the wing contains an orange strip.

The body is black. The thorax is striped in black and yellow. The head is striped in black and yellow. The underside of all parts is striped in black and yellow.

Distribution

Iphiclides feisthamelii is a butterfly from the Palaearctic ecozone (Europe). The area of ​​distribution of this butterfly stretches from Marocco to Tunisia.
