Papilio dehaani
Papilio dehaani is a butterfly from the Palaearctic ecozone (Asia). The first description was in 1864 by C. & R. Felder. The wingspan is about 10.0 – 12.0 cm. This butterfly is a member of the family PAPILIONIDAE. Papilio dehaani is black. The wings have many colourful and luminous scales. Furthermore the hind wings have tails.

Description
The forewings are black. The entire wing is littered with innumerable individual green scales. At the outer edge are dark veins and strip. The male has a furry area on the wing.
The underside is dark-brown or black. The wing is dominated by a broad white band. This white band contains many black veins and strip.
The hind wings of Papilio bianor are black and they have tails. The outer edge is strongly wavy. The inner half of the wing is blue and green. The outer half of the wing contains a chain of green spots. The tail has a green stripe.
The underside is dark-brown or black. The inner half of the wing is littered with innumerable individual whitish scales. At the edge there is a chain of big, red spots.
The body is black and the upside has some green scales.
Sex differences: Only the male has the hairy areas on the upside of fore wings. The female has on hind wings a big purple area and some red spots.

General information
The first description of this butterfly was in 1864 by C. & R. Felder. There are no subspecies.
In the past it was a subspecies of Papilio bianor. (Papilio bianor dehaanii C & Felder, 1864).
