Papilio krishna (Krishna Peacock, Krishna Pfau)

Papilio krishna, also called Krishna Peacock or Krishna Pfau is one of the most beautiful butterflies from Australasia & Indomalaya ecozone (Australia). The first description was in 1857 by Moore. With a wingspan of 10.0 – 12.0 cm the Krishna Peacock is a big member of the family PAPILIONIDAE. The butterfly is black green, blue and purple spots. The hindewings have broad tails.

The Krishna Peacock, Papilio krishna is from Palaearctic (Asia) (in the South of China) and Australasia / Indomalaya (Australia), but its biggest distribution is in Australia.
