The Tribe CHARAXINI contain only two genera. All species of this genera can fly very fast. Often they have two tails on there backwings.

The following species are members of the genus CHARAXES and they are represented on this homepage.

This genus contain about 180 species and it is a very big group of NYMPHALIDAE. CHARAXES butterflies are normaly from Africa, but one species (Charaxes jasius Linnaeus 1767;  Two-tailed Pasha) life also in south of Europe. Species are closely related with POLYURA butterflies.
