The following species are members of the genus HYPOLIMNAS and they are represented on this homepage.

This genus contain about 25 species and it is a small group of NYMPHALIDAE. HYPOLIMNAS butterflies are normaly from Africa, Asia and Australia, but only one species (Hypolimnas misippus Linnaeus 1764) is also from South America. Sexuel-dismorphism is a characteristic feature of HYPOLIMNAS butterflies. Females often mimic uneatable butterflies from subfamily DANAINAE.
