The following species are members of genus PARIDES and they are represented on this homepage. 

The genus PARIDES was described in 1819 by Hübner. It contains at present about 36 species. The genus PARIDES is a medium group of PAPILIONIDAE. BATTUS butterflies are from NEOTROPIC (South America).
Some of these butterflies have tails on their hind wings.
The caterpillars eat toxic plants. Therefore the butterflies are protected from natural enemies too.
