Pachliopta aristolochiae (Common Rose, Gewöhnliche Rose)
Pachliopta aristolochiae, also called Common Rose or Gewöhnliche Rose is a very graceful . The first description was in 1775 by Fabricius. With a wingspan of 9.0 – 10.0 cm the Common Rose is a small member of the family PAPILIONIDAE. The butterfly is black with white and red spots. Hind wings have broad tails. There are some sex differences.
The Common Rose, Pachliopta aristolochiae is from Palaearctic (Asia) (China and Mongolia) and Australasia / Indomalaya (Australia), but its biggest distribution is in Australia.
